We dropped in on the beach in a small plane observing the welcome party of several bear families clamming in Cook Inlet, a beautiful landing zone in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.
A few hour boat trip took us to 'Puffin Island,' apparently a private paradise for Puffins. I quickly learned taking pictures of flying puffins requires patience, skill, and a good tracking camera!
Seems I have a knack for getting caught in weather (Iceland day before Covid shut down international travel) and then in Alaska when the storm rolled in with very little visibility. Three of us snuck out with a very experienced pilot flying IFR rules while the rest of the group stayed an extra two days, which is not so bad, right?
Definitely one of my top 3 photo trips. I will be back Alaska!
